Polish is spoken by roughly 40 million people and is known, fairly or not, as one of the harder European languages to learn, seven grammatical cases, verb aspect pairs, and a conjugation system that doesn't follow English logic at all. That reputation makes it easy to get stuck before you've even started forming basic sentences.

This template cuts through that by focusing on 25 of the most commonly used Polish verbs, the ones that carry most of daily speaking and writing, conjugated across all grammatical persons in the present tense. Regular and irregular verbs sit on the same page, grouped by pattern (-ać, -ić, and others), so an irregular verb's deviation from the pattern is something you notice by comparison, not something you have to memorize as a random exception.

This works well for a beginner building a foundation or a self-learner who wants structure without wading through a full grammar textbook. As your Polish improves, the Canva file stays editable, so new verbs, tenses, or your own example sentences can be added over time, turning it into something that grows with you.

If you're learning more than one language, our French and English verb conjugation templates follow the same format.

  • Instant digital download. Your files are available to download as soon as payment is confirmed, so you can start studying right away; instant download items don't accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations.
  • Editable in Canva and PDF.
  • 25 most common Polish verbs.
  • Regular and irregular verbs covered. Both grouped by pattern (-ać, -ić, and others).
  • A4, single-page format.

Quick exposure to the Polish verbs actually used in everyday speech, instead of working through a full grammar textbook before reaching anything practical, this template puts the highest-frequency verbs in front of you.

Pattern recognition that speeds up learning new verbs later, once the -ać and -ić patterns click from seeing them side by side, conjugating a new verb outside the list becomes a matter of recognizing which pattern it follows.

The list of Polish verbs included in the Template:

  • Być – to be
  • Mieć – to have
  • Iść – to go
  • Robić – to do / to make
  • Powiedzieć – to say
  • Jechać – to go by vehicle
  • Chcieć – to want
  • Móc – to be able to / can
  • Musieć – to have to / must
  • Myśleć – to think
  • Wiedzieć – to know (a fact)
  • Znać – to know (a person, place, or language)
  • Wziąć – to take
  • Dać – to give
  • Lubić – to like
  • Czuć – to feel
  • Patrzeć – to look
  • Jeść – to eat
  • Pić – to drink
  • Spać – to sleep
  • Czytać – to read
  • Pisać – to write

What is a Polish Verb Conjugation Template?

Polish verbs don't sort as neatly as verbs in many other European languages. Present-tense endings depend on conjugation type, not just the infinitive ending, and two verbs that look similar on paper can conjugate completely differently. That's part of why Polish has a reputation for being hard to learn.

A conjugation template solves that specific problem, not by explaining grammar rules, but by putting verbs that share a pattern next to each other, so the pattern is something you see rather than something you're told about.

Why Polish feels harder than it actually is

A lot of what makes Polish intimidating up front isn't the verbs themselves, it's not knowing which pattern a new verb belongs to. Once that sorting is done for you, conjugating becomes a matter of recognizing a familiar shape rather than guessing. The language doesn't get simpler, but the entry point does.

Practicing beyond the chart

A conjugation reference works best as a starting point, not the whole method. Saying the verbs out loud, using them in short sentences about your own day, or hearing them in a podcast or show right after studying them tends to make the pattern stick in a way that reading alone doesn't.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Polish verbs change form based on who's performing the action and follow different patterns depending on their ending, most commonly -ać or -ić.

Yes. Regular and irregular verbs are laid out together, grouped by pattern, so irregular forms stand out by comparison instead of needing to be memorized as a separate list.

The Canva version is fully editable, so new verbs, additional tenses, or your own example sentences can be added as your Polish improves.
