Crypto Portfolio Tracker Guide

Take control of your Crypto investments

In this article I want to walk you through my Crypto Tracker Template for Google Sheets. I created this tool to make tracking your crypto investments simple and efficient, even if you’re new to portfolio management. I’ll explain how it works, how to set it up, and how you can get the most out of it.

Getting started: copying the Template

The first step is easy. Once you get the PDF file with the Template, click on the link and just copy the file to your own Google Drive. This creates your personal version of the tracker, which you can adjust to match your own portfolio and adapt to your needs.

This template is designed to be flexible.

You start from the transactions tab, which is where you’ll log all your buys and sells. Everything is automated to calculate your balances, profit/loss, and overall portfolio value.

Logging transactions

To track your investments, start by entering your transaction details:

  • Date of the transaction;

  • Type of coin (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) Check supported Cryptocurrencies;

  • Buy or sell;

  • Quantity purchased or sold;

  • Price paid;

  • Transaction fees.

The sheet automatically calculates your remaining holdings and updates your portfolio’s total value.

Crypto Tracker Template

For example, if you buy 20 Bitcoin today, the template tracks the total cost, then adjusts automatically when you sell part of it tomorrow. This allows you to see how many coins you have left and the profit or loss from each transaction.

Check supported Cryptocurrencies

Before you start using the template, it’s important to make sure that all the cryptocurrencies in your wallet are supported. I recommend checking CryptoPrices.cc to verify that each coin you hold is listed.

This ensures that the template can pull accurate data for your investments. The current coin prices in the tracker are automatically pulled from CryptoPrices.cc, so having all your coins included guarantees your portfolio values and ROI calculations are correct.

Overview and Portfolio summary

Once your transactions are entered, the overview tab provides a clear picture of your portfolio. Here, you can see:

  • Current coin prices;

  • All-time high values;

  • Return on Investment (ROI);

  • Gains and losses;

  • Best and worst-performing coins.

This overview makes it easy to identify which investments are performing well and which ones may need attention.

If you have multiple coins, just drag the formulas down to include all your holdings. The template automatically updates the values and calculations for each coin.

Understanding the data tab and graphs

The data tab is where all calculations happen behind the scenes. You don’t need to edit this part, but it’s there if you want to understand how the formulas work.

For visual learners, there are also graphs showing your portfolio performance over time. These charts help you quickly see trends and evaluate your investments at a glance.

Tips for using the Template

  1. Check the supported coins: Make sure all the coins in your wallet are included in the template. I provide a link with all supported cryptocurrencies CryptoPrices.cc

  2. Do not edit locked rows or formulas: This ensures your calculations stay accurate;

  3. Start small and explore: Begin with a few transactions to get comfortable with how the tracker works before logging your entire portfolio;

  4. Customize for your needs: You can adjust the template to suit your investment strategy.

Common mistakes to avoid

Even with a simple and automated template, beginners often make a few common mistakes that can affect accuracy. One frequent error is forgetting to update transactions regularly, which can make your portfolio snapshot outdated.

Another is accidentally editing locked formulas or rows, which can break calculations for ROI and total value. Some users also forget to check if all their cryptocurrencies are supported in the template, leading to missing or incorrect price data.

Conclusion

This Crypto Tracker Template was designed to make managing your crypto investments as simple as possible. It tracks your transactions, calculates profit and loss, and provides a clear overview of your holdings.

If you’re new to crypto or just want a more organized way to track your portfolio, this template is a great starting point.
